Cloner in Cinema 4D is a powerful MoGraph tool that duplicates objects in various arrangements such as grids, radial patterns, or along splines, enabling rapid creation of complex, repetitive structures and motion graphics elements.
What It Is
- Duplicates objects in configurable patterns like linear, grid, radial, and object-based arrays.
- Supports cloning along splines for custom paths.
- Integrates with effectors for dynamic animation and transformations.
- Non-destructive and procedural, allowing real-time adjustments.
How It Works
- Create or select the object(s) you want to clone.
- Add a Cloner object from the MoGraph menu.
- Drag your source object(s) as children under the Cloner.
- Choose the cloning mode: Linear, Grid Array, Radial, or Object.
- Adjust count, spacing, and orientation parameters for the desired layout.
- Optionally apply Effectors to animate, randomize, or modify clones.
- Preview and tweak parameters dynamically in the viewport.
Use Cases
- Creating arrays of objects like buildings, trees, or crowds.
- Designing abstract motion graphics and patterns.
- Animating repeated elements with procedural effectors.
- Cloning along custom paths or surfaces for complex distributions.
Benefits
- Speeds up the creation of complex repeated geometry.
- Highly flexible with multiple cloning modes and parameters.
- Seamlessly integrates with other MoGraph tools and effectors.
- Non-destructive workflow supports rapid iteration and animation.
