This video tutorial explains how to create a creepy sea anemone/starfish-like creature using MoSplines in Cinema 4D.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to create the effect:
- Create a
MoSpline. - Add a
MoGraph Clonerobject and make the MoSpline its child. - In the Cloner object, change the mode to
Radialand the plane toXZ. Adjust theRadiusto make the endpoints touch. - Increase the
Countin the Cloner object to add more limbs. - Add a
Gravityobject from theSimulatetab to make the MoSplines dynamic. - Add a
Turbulenceobject from theSimulatetab to create a swaying motion. Adjust the turbulence settings as desired. - Add a
Sweepobject and aCircleobject. Make theCirclea child of theSweep, and theMoSplinea child of theCircle. - Place all of these under the Cloner object to apply the thickness to all limbs.
- Adjust the width of the
MoSplineto control the thickness of the limbs. - Adjust the line graph in the
Sweepobject’s details to round out the ends of the limbs. - To make the creature interact with the environment, add a
Landscapeobject. - Add a
Collider Bodytag to the Landscape and aRigid Bodytag to the Cloner. - Adjust the
BendandCurvein the MoSpline settings to change the simulation. - Add a
Subdivision Surfaceto the Cloner for a smoother final render.
