In this Cinema 4D tutorial, we're recreating an awesome rope-wrapped box effect inspired by Travis Ragsdale (link below). This video breaks down the best techniques to wrap objects in rope using dynamics and fields in Cinema 4D — perfect for motion designers, 3D artists, and anyone wanting to level up their simulations.

You'll learn how to:

  • Create dynamic box stacks using Cloners, Random Effectors, and Field Forces

  • Convert the simulation to Alembic for faster playback and workflow

  • Use Rope Tags and Sweep Objects to simulate realistic rope wrapping

  • Fine-tune collisions, damping, and rope properties for tight and natural results

  • Add multiple ropes from different angles, and prevent intersection for clean renders

This tutorial was requested by Hoon (one of our awesome Yearly Members) who wanted to create a similar effect to this original artwork by Travis Ragsdale.
