About Connecting Objects
Hello, nice to meet you.
I'm currently working on a koinobori(carp streamer)simulation in Cinema 4D.
I want the koinobori to sway in the wind by moving the object labeled “sphere2,” so that its child objects follow the movement.
My current hierarchy setup is the same as in the screenshot:
sphere2 is the parent
ropes and the koinobori (ring + fish body) are children of sphere2
I have a few questions regarding the connections and simulation setup:
1) Rope setup
Should the splines be connected into a single spline object?
And would it be correct to connect this rope system to sphere2 and the ring using connectors?
I would like the ropes to move like real ropes, sway rather than being completely stiff.
2) Connection between the ring and the fish body
For connecting the ring and the koinobori body, would it be better to use:
a Connector setup, or
Cloth Belt?
Also, should the ring be set as:
a Collider, or
a Rigid Body?
I want to control the overall movement of the koinobori through sphere2, but I would also like the ring itself to have slight independent rotation and variation for more natural motion.
3) Gravity settings
What would be a good gravity value/range for this kind of koinobori cloth simulation?
I want it to feel light and wind-driven rather than heavy like wet fabric.
Thank you very much.

Hey Yuri, good chatting with you via email - here’s my attempt with some details about how it was done
