Twisted Rope & String Setup (Cinema 4D Project File)

his project file was created for Stefania Ragone, who asked how to create twisted string / twine similar to this example by xexhe.

After a lot of trial and error, this is one solid way to approach the effect in Cinema 4D using the Reeper plugin by Codeworkers

This setup uses the Spline Generator version of Reeper to form the rope structure, combined with Cinema 4D Hair to add a more organic, irregular look.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a strong starting point if you want to build realistic string, twine, or rope-style elements — and improve or extend the setup further.
