Melting Things in Houdini
A procedural Houdini setup that melts a solid object into flowing liquid.
15 December 2025
It’s been a while since I’ve shared a Houdini project, but I wanted to revisit our old Houdini Melting tutorial and create an improved version. This project is inspired by techniques from mo0hammadreza. You can easily melt any object by swapping it out at the top of the node tree (more notes inside the file).
I haven’t been working in Houdini for a few years (and was never that good at it), but I’m slowly getting back into it and thought I’d share some experiments I’ve been playing with as I go.
A quick note on Houdini content:
Last month, I ran a poll to see if members were interested in Houdini content, and the response was pretty positive. While I’m a bit rusty, I’ll be uploading projects I’m working on from time to time to see what people think.
Personally, I think Houdini is an incredible complement to Cinema 4D. Its simulation tools blow C4D out of the water, and the procedural workflow offers some serious advantages.
